Accounting & Tax Acquisitions in Washington

Alpine Investors launched Ascend, a platform partnering with entrepreneurial CPA firms, and announced a strategic investment in the nonattest business of Opsahl Dawson. The investment will support Opsahl Dawson’s tax and business advisory practice (Opsahl Dawson & Company Advisors LLC) with capital for talent, M&A and technology to accelerate growth while preserving local firm leadership and culture; terms were not disclosed.

Baker Tilly US, LLP has combined with Seattle-based accounting firm Bader Martin, P.S., effective June 1, bringing roughly 100 professionals into the Baker Tilly network. The move expands Baker Tilly’s footprint into the Pacific Northwest and enhances its tax and wealth advisory capabilities for high-net-worth individuals, family businesses and nonprofits.

CBIZ, Inc.'s subsidiary CBIZ Accounting, Tax & Advisory of Washington, LLC acquired the non-attest assets of Berntson Porter & Company, PLLC (effective May 1, 2021). Concurrently, Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. acquired the attest assets; Berntson Porter (Bellevue, WA) has ~120 employees and approximately $26 million in annual revenue. The deal establishes CBIZ's presence in the Puget Sound / Pacific Northwest market and expands its service offerings.
