Truist Insurance Holdings Acquires BenefitMall from Carlyle

Truist Insurance Holdings, a subsidiary of Truist Financial Corporation, signed a definitive agreement to acquire BenefitMall, the nation's largest benefits wholesale general agency, from funds managed by Carlyle. The deal — expected to close in Q3 2022 — will add roughly $150 million of annual revenue to Truist's wholesale division and BenefitMall will be combined into Truist's CRC Group to expand employee benefits capabilities and distribution.

BenefitMall Acquires Mutual Med

BenefitMall has acquired Mutual Med, a Davenport, Iowa-based insurance distributor, to expand carrier relationships and voluntary benefits offerings and strengthen BenefitMall's presence across the Midwest. Mutual Med will operate as a division of BenefitMall under its existing leadership and broaden BenefitMall's service territory into several new Midwestern and Southern states.

Fort Point Capital portfolio company Jones Lake Management has partnered with Savin Lake Services, a Hale, Michigan-based provider of pond and lake management, to expand Jones Lake's service offering and add dredging capabilities in Michigan. Savin's owner Guy Savin will continue to lead Michigan operations as part of Jones Lake's broader network, strengthening the platform's geographic footprint and service capabilities.

AssuredPartners Acquires Baker & Associates Insurance Agency

SpartanNash Acquires Shop-N-Save Food Centers

SpartanNash has acquired Shop-N-Save Food Centers, a three-store grocery chain in northwestern Michigan, converting the Benzonia, Fremont and Ludington locations to its Family Fare banner and retaining employment for all associates. Shop-N-Save, founded by William "Bill" DeVries and a SpartanNash distribution customer for nearly 25 years, will expand SpartanNash's Family Fare footprint across the Midwest.

Brown & Brown Acquires Yozell Associates

Brown & Brown of Massachusetts, a unit of Brown & Brown, Inc., acquired substantially all assets of Yozell Associates, a Boston-based group employee and executive benefits firm. The Yozell team will operate as a stand-alone office within Brown & Brown's Retail Segment, strengthening the firm's employee benefits capabilities in the New England market.
