Bishop Street Underwriters, a portfolio company of RedBird Capital Partners, has acquired Avid Insurance Services from Beech Tree PE LLP. Avid, a London-based managing general agent that serves niche markets including travel, social housing and construction, will join the Bishop Street platform to expand specialty underwriting capabilities in the UK.

The deal increases Avid's gross written premium to about £75m and expands its specialist product lines and underwriting capability in construction, property and SME insurance.
