Nomura has agreed to acquire Macquarie Asset Management’s North American and European public asset management business (including equities, fixed income and multi‑asset strategies) in an all‑cash transaction for roughly US$1.8 billion, subject to closing adjustments and regulatory approvals. The business—led from Philadelphia with more than 700 employees and approximately US$180 billion of AUM—will join Nomura’s Investment Management division, and the firms will also enter a broader product and distribution collaboration.

Macquarie Asset Management to Acquire 90% Stake in Apex Energies Group

Macquarie Asset Management, via its Macquarie Green Investment Group Renewable Energy Fund 2, has entered exclusive negotiations to acquire a 90% equity interest in French solar developer and operator Apex Energies Group from a consortium of investors. Apex, which develops, builds and operates rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects across France and also provides energy-efficiency and monitoring services through subsidiaries ORA and S4E, will support Macquarie’s expansion of its renewable energy platform in France.

Merit Financial Advisors Acquires AMP Wealth Management

Merit Financial Advisors, a Georgia-based wealth management firm, has acquired AMP Wealth Management of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, adding $365 million of assets and expanding Merit's Midwest footprint with a seventh office in Wisconsin. AMP's founder Dr. Jerome Mahalick and his team will join Merit, and AMP's dividend-focused investment strategy will be integrated into Merit's platform; financial terms were not disclosed.

MetLife Investment Management Acquires Affirmative Investment Management

The deal expands MIM’s sustainable-investing capabilities and reporting/engagement expertise for institutional clients; the transaction closed in December 2022 after customary conditions and approvals.

Macquarie Asset Management Acquires Remaining 20% of National Gas

Macquarie Asset Management, via a consortium of its managed equity and funds, has exercised its option to acquire the remaining 20% equity stake in National Gas from National Grid, giving the consortium 100% ownership. The move secures full control to support National Gas’s operation of the UK gas transmission network and accelerate future initiatives such as hydrogen network development and other decarbonisation projects.
