Area Wide Protective (AWP), a Kohlberg & Company-backed infrastructure services platform, has agreed to acquire Statewide Safety Systems and the traffic safety divisions of Trafficade Service Companies. The deals expand AWP’s geographic footprint and capabilities, creating a combined traffic control and work‑zone safety provider with more than 130 facilities across 27 states and eastern Canada and thousands of customers served daily.

Riverside retained a minority stake via its Strategic Capital Fund; AWP will be led by new CEO Ron Childress as founder/CEO John Sypek transitions to Vice Chairman. Terms were not disclosed.
