Emerson Acquires Verdant (Verdant Environmental Technologies)

Emerson has completed the acquisition of Verdant (Verdant Environmental Technologies), a Montreal-based provider of energy management solutions for the hospitality and light commercial markets. Verdant, which was majority-held by Fulcrum Capital Partners, offers smart thermostats, SaaS analytics and monitoring services and has about 70 employees; the deal broadens Emerson's energy management and optimization capabilities.

Blackstone Acquires Majority Stake in Emerson Climate Technologies (Rebranded Copeland)

Private equity funds managed by Blackstone acquired a majority stake in Emerson's Climate Technologies business (rebranded as Copeland) in a transaction valuing the business at $14.0 billion. Emerson received approximately $9.7 billion in upfront cash, a $2.25 billion seller note and retained a minority equity stake while Blackstone (with co-investors ADIA and GIC) will support Copeland's growth as a standalone HVACR leader; Copeland reported fiscal 2022 sales of $5.0 billion and employs over 18,000 people.

Emerson Acquires Cooper-Atkins

The deal expands Emerson's cold chain technology portfolio and complements its ProAct Services and Cargo Solutions offerings; Cooper-Atkins is headquartered in Middlefield, Connecticut and has approximately 150 employees.

Emerson Acquires American Governor Company

Blackstone-led Consortium Acquires Emerson's Remaining Interest in Copeland

Private equity funds managed by Blackstone, with investment from a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and GIC, will acquire Emerson's remaining 40% interest in the Copeland joint venture (formerly Emerson Climate Technologies) for approximately $3.5 billion. The deal — in which Copeland will repurchase the seller's note — furthers Emerson's portfolio simplification and is expected to close in the second half of 2024, subject to regulatory approvals.

AirX Climate Solutions Acquires AboveAir Technologies

AirX Climate Solutions, a Gryphon Investors-backed platform, has acquired AboveAir Technologies, a Frederick, Maryland-based OEM of precision cooling solutions for data centers. AboveAir will operate as a new division of ACS with founder Matt Miller named President of the AboveAir division and becoming a shareholder; ACS will invest in manufacturing capacity at AboveAir's 100,000-square-foot facility and expand its Mid-Atlantic footprint.
