Reinsurance Group of America Acquires Hodge Life Assurance Company Limited

Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) has agreed to acquire 100% of the share capital of Hodge Life Assurance Company Limited (HLAC) from Hodge Limited. HLAC, a PRA-authorised UK life insurer with approximately £570 million of annuity liabilities, will cease writing new business effective February 19, 2021; the deal is subject to regulatory approval.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Acquires Eastern Insurance Group

Gallagher & Co. signed a definitive agreement to acquire Natick, Massachusetts-based Eastern Insurance Group, LLC (a subsidiary of Eastern Bank) for $510 million (net of seller-funded expenses). The acquisition, expected to close in late 2023 and now completed, expands Gallagher’s commercial property/casualty, personal lines and employee benefits capabilities across the Northeast U.S.; Eastern Insurance reported pro forma trailing-12-month revenues of approximately $104 million and EBITDAC of $37 million.

Alera Group Acquires Gordon Atlantic Insurance Agency

Alera Group has acquired Gordon Atlantic Insurance Agency, an independent insurance agency based in Norwell, Massachusetts, effective October 1, 2020. The deal expands Alera Group's presence in the greater Boston/Northeast region and brings Gordon Atlantic's personal and commercial insurance expertise into Alera's national platform; terms were not disclosed.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Acquires Cadence Insurance, Inc.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has completed the acquisition of Cadence Insurance, Inc., a Baton Rouge–headquartered insurance subsidiary of Cadence Bank. As part of the transaction, Gallagher will become the preferred insurance broking partner of Cadence Bank, expanding its distribution and insurance capabilities.

Alliant Insurance Services Acquires Assured Health Group

Alliant Insurance Services has acquired Assured Health Group (AHG), a West Palm Beach-based direct-to-consumer agency specializing in Affordable Care Act (ACA) under-65 individual health insurance plans. AHG will join Alliant Consumer Group to expand Alliant's presence in the ACA marketplace; terms were not disclosed and the entire AHG team will join Alliant.
