Altamont Capital Partners Acquires Specialized Packaging Group

Altamont Capital Partners has acquired Specialized Packaging Group, Inc. (SPG) from founder Paul Gaulin. SPG is a vertically integrated manufacturer of protective and engineered packaging (operating the IVEX and Engineered Packaging divisions) with facilities across the U.S., Canada and Mexico; Gaulin is retiring as CEO but will remain on the board as a minority investor and Altamont plans to pursue growth, footprint expansion and potential add-on acquisitions. Terms were not disclosed; financing was provided by Monroe Capital and Churchill Asset Management.

The deal expands SPG’s Engineered Packaging capabilities, adds roughly 100 employees (who will continue to operate in Newark, California), and coincides with SPS founder and CEO Terry Besso’s retirement.

The add-on expands SPG’s ProtecPac division capabilities and geographic reach, adding approximately 50 employees while Pacific Pulp’s leadership and workforce continue operating in San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico.

(PSI) of Phoenix, Arizona from common owner O2 Investment Partners. The add-on acquisition expands SPG's Engineered Packaging capabilities, adds roughly 100 employees to the combined workforce, and strengthens SPG's engineering, design and manufacturing footprint across North America—particularly in automotive and aerospace end markets.
