EP Wealth Advisors, a Torrance, California-based RIA, acquired The Insight Group, Inc. and Financial Insight Center, LLC—two Utah-based wealth management firms—in a deal that closed Sept. 30, 2020. The acquisition expands EP Wealth's geographic footprint into Utah and increases its assets under management by more than $1 billion; founding owners of Insight will join EP Wealth's leadership team.

Informa Acquires Winsight for $380m

Informa has agreed to acquire Winsight, a specialist B2B events, data and media group serving the foodservice industry, for an initial enterprise value of $380 million payable in cash. The deal expands Informa’s B2B Foodservice portfolio by adding events (including the National Restaurant Association Show), specialist data (Technomic) and trade media brands, and is expected to be earnings-accretive with operating synergies and revenue growth opportunities.

B&W Communications Acquires Active Interest Media from Wind Point Partners

B&W Communications (Betterment & Wonderment Communications), a newly formed company led by longtime AIM CEO and co-founder Andrew Clurman and fellow investors, has acquired 100% of Active Interest Media from Wind Point Partners. AIM will remain headquartered in Boulder, Colorado and plans to accelerate product development, reinvention and new audience engagement across its magazines, events and digital platforms.

News Corp Acquires Investor's Business Daily for $275M

News Corp has agreed to acquire Investor's Business Daily (IBD) from O'Neil Capital Management for $275 million. IBD, a digital-first financial news and research business with roughly 100,000 digital subscribers and about 130 employees, will operate as a stand-alone brand within News Corp's Dow Jones division to expand Dow Jones's digital finance offerings and proprietary investor tools.

Boyne Capital Acquires AC Business Media

Boyne Capital has partnered with management to acquire AC Business Media, a Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin–based business-to-business media and business intelligence company, purchasing a majority stake from prior owners Anil Narang and Carl Wistreich (who remain minority owners). Boyne will work with new CEO Barry Lovette and the existing management team to invest in products and capabilities and expand AC Business Media's audience across its portfolio of digital properties, trade shows, magazines, webinars and data-driven marketing offerings.

iCapital Network Acquires AI Insight

iCapital Network has agreed to acquire the assets of AI Insight, Inc., an education and compliance platform that provides fund-specific research, training and credentialing for financial advisors focused on alternative investments. As part of the transaction, AI Insight’s executives Sherri Cooke and Jennifer Simon and eight additional employees are expected to join iCapital to integrate AI Insight’s learning management system into iCapital’s advisor-facing alternative investment platform.
