Sandvik Acquires GWS Tool Group from L Squared Capital Partners

Sandvik AB has agreed to acquire GWS Tool Group from L Squared Capital Partners and GWS management; GWS will be reported within Walter, Sandvik's machining solutions division. GWS, a Tavares, Florida-based manufacturer of made-to-order cutting tools (including PCD tools and taps) with ~490 employees and nearly $100M in revenue, was grown via multiple add-ons under L Squared; the purchase price was not disclosed and the deal is expected to close in Q4 2021.

Sandvik Acquires Peterson Tool Company (assets)

Sandvik AB has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Peterson Tool Company, Inc., a Nashville-based custom carbide tooling manufacturer that supplies machine-specific custom insert tooling for high-production turning and grooving. Peterson Tool (73 employees; ~$9m revenue in 2021) will be reported in Sandvik's GWS Tool business unit within Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions; the transaction was expected to close in Q2–Q3 2022.

CID Capital Acquires PDQ Manufacturing

Indianapolis-based private equity firm CID Capital has acquired PDQ Manufacturing, a Lancaster, Pennsylvania manufacturer of commercial door hardware, locks, deadbolts, door closers and electronic locking solutions. CID named industry veteran Phil Bradney as CEO and said it will support the company’s growth under its ownership.

Sandvik Acquires QTE Manufacturing Solutions

Sandvik AB has acquired QTE Manufacturing Solutions (QTE), a US-based reseller of Mastercam CAM software as well as Verisurf metrology and Vericut CNC simulation software. QTE, headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri, has 12 employees and reported around SEK 45 million in revenue in 2024; it will become part of Sandvik's Mastercam business unit within the Machining and Intelligent Manufacturing area. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Berkshire Partners and TA Associates Lead Growth Investment in PDQ

PDQ, a Salt Lake City–based provider of IT asset and endpoint management software, received a significant growth investment led by Berkshire Partners alongside existing investor TA Associates and PDQ's founders and management. The capital will be used to accelerate product innovation and expand PDQ's portfolio of endpoint management, inventory and patch management solutions.

Sandvik Acquires CAM Reseller Cimquest

Sandvik AB has signed an agreement to acquire Cimquest, a Branchburg, New Jersey-based reseller of Mastercam CAD/CAM software and distributor of additive (3D printing) products. Cimquest will become part of Sandvik’s Mastercam business unit within Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions; the company has about 55 employees and reported ~USD 26m revenue in 2023.
