Durham-based Velocity Clinical Research has acquired Omega Medical Research (Providence, Rhode Island) and Buynak Clinical Research (Valparaiso, Indiana), expanding its multi-site footprint to 12 sites across nine states. The deals, together with a strategic partnership with Elite Research Network, are intended to boost Velocity’s capacity for vaccine and COVID-19 treatment trials while adding geographic and therapeutic diversity.

Softheon Acquires NextHealth Technologies

Omega Systems Acquires PEAKE Technology Partners

The deal is Omega's first acquisition since partnering with Revelstoke Capital Partners in January 2025 and is intended as an add-on to accelerate healthcare-focused managed services growth.

Veritas Capital and Evergreen Coast Capital Acquire athenahealth

An affiliate of Veritas Capital and Evergreen Coast Capital (Elliott affiliate) completed the acquisition of athenahealth, Inc. for approximately $5.7 billion in cash. The deal combines athenahealth with Veritas-owned Virence Health under the athenahealth brand, creating a larger healthcare IT provider headquartered in Watertown, Massachusetts, led by Bob Segert.

Ontario Teachers' Acquires Co-Control Stake in Omega Healthcare from Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Everstone

Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan has signed an agreement to acquire a co-control stake in Omega Healthcare Management Services from Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Everstone Capital. Omega Healthcare, a US-headquartered provider of technology-enabled revenue cycle management and clinical services with ~35,000 employees, will continue its growth under the new ownership partnership.
