Boecore, a Colorado Springs-based defense and space systems contractor backed by Enlightenment Capital, has acquired Ascension Engineering Group (AEG), a space systems and satellite communications engineering provider founded in 2017. The acquisition is an add-on to Boecore's platform to expand capabilities and service offerings for Space Force, NASA, the Army and commercial space customers.

The deal strengthens Boecore's cyber and AI capabilities and expands its contract vehicles and offerings to pursue larger space, cyber, and DoD opportunities.

Boecore, a Colorado Springs-based aerospace and defense engineering contractor, has acquired Orbit Logic, a Greenbelt, Maryland developer of mission planning and scheduling software for satellite ground systems. The deal, announced Feb. 13, will expand Boecore's footprint and software capabilities in the space sector; financial terms were not disclosed.

Enlightenment Capital Forms Auria by Merging Four Portfolio Companies

Enlightenment Capital has combined four portfolio companies—Boecore, Ascension Engineering Group, Orbit Logic, and La Jolla Logic—into a new space-focused platform called Auria, based in Colorado Springs. Auria will deliver mission planning, space domain awareness, satellite communications management and cybersecurity capabilities and will employ more than 400 people across the combined businesses. The consolidation is intended to broaden the customer base, expand capabilities and create a mid-tier contractor in the space and defense market.

Enlightenment Capital Acquires Trowbridge & Trowbridge LLC

Chevy Chase-based private investment firm Enlightenment Capital has acquired McLean-based government IT contractor Trowbridge & Trowbridge LLC as the initial investment in a new Enlightenment platform focused on government IT modernization. The deal — terms undisclosed — gives Enlightenment a foothold in cloud computing, cybersecurity and IT modernization for federal customers; Trowbridge's COO Cass Panciocco was promoted to president and CEO while founder Karen Trowbridge remains on the board as an adviser.

Auria Acquires BCubed Engineering

Auria, a portfolio company of Enlightenment Capital, has acquired BCubed Engineering Corporation, a Warrenton, Virginia–based developer of software-defined satellite communications, digital ground systems, and cloud-native command-and-control platforms. The acquisition expands Auria's C3 (command, control, communications) software and hardware capabilities to better serve customers including the U.S. Space Force, Special Operations Command, and the Intelligence Community; Auria now has more than 500 employees across multiple U.S. locations.
