Bright Health has signed an agreement to acquire California-based Universal Care (d.b.a. Brand New Day), a Medicare-focused health plan. The deal will give Bright Health a strong presence in California and combine Brand New Day's local clinical programs and provider relationships with Bright Health's national scale and technology platform; the transaction is subject to regulatory approval and expected to close in 2020.
