CardWorks and Merrick Bank to Acquire Ally’s Credit Card Business

Ally Financial and CardWorks announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which CardWorks (and its wholly-owned bank subsidiary, Merrick Bank) will acquire Ally’s credit card business. The transaction includes a $2.3 billion portfolio of credit card receivables and 1.3 million active cardholders, and is expected to close in 2025 subject to customary conditions.
