Cequel III to Acquire Benton Ridge Telephone Company and Broadband Subsidiaries

Benton Ridge Telephone Company (BRTC) and its broadband subsidiaries have had shareholders approve the acquisition by Cequel III, a St. Louis-based investment and management firm. The deal is pending regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2022, supporting continued expansion of hybrid fiber and fixed wireless broadband through BRTC’s Watch Communications and Community Fiber Solutions subsidiaries.

The deal expands Bell's fibre footprint into the U.S. (adding ~1.3–1.4 million locations), leaves Ziply operating as a separate unit headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, and is paired with a strategic partnership with PSP Investments to accelerate U.S. fibre deployment.
