Wichita-based Genesis Health Clubs acquired all seven locations of The Athletic Clubs (formerly Prairie Life Fitness) across three states. The deal expands Genesis’ Midwestern footprint—giving members of both organizations access to more than 50 Genesis locations across six states—and was completed with the support of The Athletic Clubs owner Tony Dahmen.

HealthFitness Acquires Midtown Health from Tennis Corporation of America

HealthFitness, a Trustmark company based in Lake Forest, Illinois, has acquired Midtown Health, the onsite fitness and corporate-wellness management division of Tennis Corporation of America. Midtown Health — which manages 25 onsite fitness centers nationwide — will join HealthFitness to expand its onsite and virtual wellness capabilities and scale its corporate and hospital wellness management services.

Planet Fitness Acquires Sunshine Fitness (114 Clubs)

Planet Fitness, Inc. agreed to acquire Sunshine Fitness Growth Holdings, LLC — a Planet Fitness franchisee operating 114 clubs in the Southeast U.S. — in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $800 million, funded in part by a new securitization and available cash. The locations (in AL, FL, GA, NC and SC) were folded into Planet Fitness' company-owned portfolio, and Sunshine co-founder Shane McGuiness joined Planet Fitness to oversee the combined corporate club operations; the deal closed in February 2022.

Sunshine Fitness Growth Holdings, a Planet Fitness franchisee backed by TSG Consumer Partners, acquired Anchor Fitness LLC’s 13 Planet Fitness club locations across South Carolina and Georgia. MFA Companies acted as exclusive financial advisor to Anchor Fitness; terms were not disclosed. The acquisition expands Sunshine Fitness’s footprint to roughly 80 clubs across the Southeast U.S.

B2Digital Acquires Club Fitness of Birmingham

B2Digital Incorporated (OTC: BTDG) has acquired all equity, assets and interests of Club Fitness, Inc., an Alabama corporation based in the Birmingham area. The facility will become the fifth One More Gym location in B2Digital's training network and will be renovated to add Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing and MMA instruction to integrate it with the B2 Fighting Series ecosystem.
