Fortra (formerly HelpSystems) has acquired Cobalt Strike, the penetration-testing/threat-emulation product developed by Strategic Cyber LLC. The deal folds Cobalt Strike into Fortra’s Core Security business to expand its infrastructure-protection and red-team/pen-testing capabilities while retaining Cobalt Strike creator Raphael Mudge in a strategic role.
