Rincon Broadcasting Group Acquires Five Midwestern Television Stations

Rincon Broadcasting Group completed the acquisition of five regional television stations: WVTV (Milwaukee, WI), WICD (Champaign, IL), WICS (Springfield, IL), KHQA (Quincy, IL), and KTVO (Kirksville, MO/Ottumwa, IA). The privately held media operator said the stations will continue providing operational and administrative services to GOCOM Media stations as Rincon builds a portfolio of mid-market broadcast assets.

E.W. Scripps Company Acquires ION Media

Scripps Company will acquire ION Media from an entity controlled by Black Diamond Capital Management for $2.65 billion, creating a national television networks business by combining ION with Scripps’ Katz networks and Newsy. Berkshire Hathaway is providing $600 million of preferred equity to finance the transaction; the deal is expected to deliver substantial synergies and requires FCC and HSR approvals.

Teton Ridge Acquires The Cowboy Channel from Rural Media Group

The deal includes an exclusive licensing agreement with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and retains existing distribution agreements across cable, satellite and streaming platforms.

WANRack Acquires KwiKom Communications

WANRack, a national fiber infrastructure provider backed by CBRE Investment Management, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JMZ Corporation d/b/a KwiKom Communications. KwiKom — a Kansas-based operator of fiber optic and fixed wireless broadband serving parts of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska — will continue operating under its brand; the deal is expected to close in Q1 2023 subject to customary approvals.
