Commercial Metals Company (CMC) has agreed to acquire Tensar Corporation, a global designer and manufacturer of geogrid products and foundation-improvement technologies, from Castle Harlan for $550 million in cash. The transaction — a sale of a Castle Harlan portfolio company (CHP V) — closed following customary regulatory review; Tensar is headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia and will expand CMC's construction-products and ground-stabilization capabilities.

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) completed the acquisition of Foley Products Company, LLC for $1.84 billion in cash. Foley, a Georgia-based supplier of precast concrete and pipe products operating 18 facilities across nine states with approximately 600 employees, will be integrated into CMC's newly formed precast platform to expand capabilities and scale in infrastructure, drainage, and construction end markets.

Steelcon Acquires Hammett Steel

Canada-based Steelcon Fabrication (Steelcon Group of Companies) has acquired Hammett Steel, an AISC-certified structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator based in Columbus, Georgia. The deal (closed January 31, 2023) establishes Steelcon's U.S. operations headquarters at Hammett's 200,000 sq ft facility, expands SIN beam production capacity, and is expected to support the creation of up to 200 high-skilled manufacturing jobs as production ramps.

EDSCO is a manufacturer of anchor cages, bolts and fasteners serving the North American electrical transmission market from four plants in Texas, Utah, Tennessee and North Carolina; CMC says the purchase expands its construction reinforcement capabilities and positions it for increased demand from electrical transmission and renewable energy projects.

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) acquired all assets of metal recycling company Roane Metals Group LLC, which operates two facilities in Tennessee capable of processing approximately 85,000 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous materials annually. The acquisition is intended to enhance the security and supply of competitively priced scrap inputs to CMC's steelmaking operations.
