M7 Group (Astorg-backed) Acquires Liberty Global's Eastern European DTH Operations

Astorg-backed M7 Group agreed to acquire Liberty Global's direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV operations serving Hungary (UPC Direct), the Czech Republic and Slovakia (freeSAT / Skylink) and Romania (FocusSat). The deal (subject to regulatory approval) adds about 800,000 customers and expands M7's footprint across Eastern Europe, enabling rollout of its hybrid satellite and OTT platform.

Liberty Global has entered into a definitive agreement with Vodafone Group to acquire Vodafone’s 50% shareholding in the Dutch telecommunications joint venture VodafoneZiggo for €1.0 billion in cash and a 10% equity interest in a new Benelux company called Ziggo Group. Ziggo Group is expected to hold Liberty Global’s interests in VodafoneZiggo and Belgium’s Telenet, with plans to list in Amsterdam in 2027 and spin off 90% of shares to Liberty Global shareholders.

Lynk and Omnispace Plan Merger to Deliver Next-Generation Direct-to-Device Connectivity

Lynk Global and Omnispace announced plans to merge to provide a comprehensive direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity solution spanning satellite and terrestrial networks. SES, an investor in both companies, will become a major strategic shareholder and deepen its support for engineering, operations, and regulatory needs as the combined entity is expected to close late this year or early next year.

United Group Sells SBB Serbia to e&/PPF and NetTV Plus (Western Balkans rights) to Telekom Srbija

United Group (majority owned by BC Partners) has agreed to sell SBB doo Belgrade to e& (Etisalat) and PPF Telecom (together “e&/PPF”), and to sell its NetTV Plus business and sports broadcasting rights for the Western Balkans to Telekom Srbija. The combined transactions carry an enterprise value of €1.5 billion (implied EV/2024 EBITDAal of ~10x) and are subject to customary regulatory approvals, expected to close in H1 2025.

Orbyt Global Acquires OTESAT-Maritel from OTE Group

Greek maritime satcom provider Orbyt Global has purchased OTE Group’s 94.09% stake in OTESAT-Maritel. Financial terms were not disclosed; the deal will combine OTESAT-Maritel’s s@tgate platform and expertise with Orbyt Global’s Nexus Shark III platform to expand and upgrade maritime satellite communications and digital services.

Liberty Media Acquires Dorna Sports (MotoGP)

Liberty Media Corporation has acquired a majority stake in Dorna Sports S.L., the exclusive commercial rights holder of the MotoGP and WorldSBK championships, in a transaction valuing Dorna at an enterprise value of $4.5 billion and an equity value of $3.7 billion. Liberty bought approximately 86% of the company from Bridgepoint Capital and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, with Dorna management retaining roughly 14% equity; the acquisition has been completed and MotoGP is now part of Liberty's Formula One Group.
