H.I.G. Capital (through an affiliate) completed simultaneous growth investments in Action Point, Inc. (Action Packaging) and Signature Flexible Packaging, Inc., and the two businesses will combine to form a full-service flexible packaging provider. The combined company operates three facilities in Carson, City of Industry and Commerce, California, serving small-to-medium consumer packaged goods customers; H.I.G. will partner with management to support organic growth and consolidation M&A activity.

Chroma Color Corporation Acquires Spectra Color, Inc.

Chroma Color Corporation acquired Spectra Color, Inc., a Corona, California-based custom manufacturer of colorants, masterbatch and pre-colored resin compounds. Action Packaging and Signature Flexible Packaging Acquire Techflex Packaging; Rebrand as DazPak Flexible Packaging

Action Point, Inc. (Action Packaging) and Signature Flexible Packaging, an H.I.G. Capital portfolio company, acquired Techflex Packaging, a Gardena, California pouch converter, and integrated Techflex (and Chromatic Label) into a newly rebranded platform called DazPak Flexible Packaging. The transaction expands the combined company's flexible packaging capabilities on the U.S. West Coast and broadens its product offering for food, medical, pet food and nutraceutical customers across North America.

Chroma Color Corporation Acquires Plastics Color Corporation

Chroma Color Corporation has acquired Plastics Color Corporation, including its two manufacturing facilities in Asheboro, North Carolina and Calumet City, Illinois. The acquisition expands Chroma's manufacturing footprint and adds Plastics Color's color concentrates, functional additives and FDA-relevant capabilities (including DMFs) to Chroma's portfolio; terms were not disclosed.

ChromaScape Acquires CEL Chemical

ChromaScape, a specialty colorants and additives supplier backed by Heartwood Partners, has acquired CEL Chemical, a Piedmont, South Carolina-based manufacturer of adhesives, additives and modifiers for the corrugated paperboard packaging industry. The acquisition expands ChromaScape's packaging chemical product line and follows the retirement of CEL Chemical founder Jim Messenger; Heartwood Partners supported the transaction as the sponsor of ChromaScape.
