NAVER to Acquire Wattpad for Cash and Stock Valued at Over $600 Million

NAVER, the South Korean internet conglomerate and home of WEBTOON, announced that it has a definitive agreement to acquire Wattpad in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at more than an estimated USD $600 million. The acquisition is expected to close in Q2 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, and Wattpad will remain headquartered in Canada under the continued leadership of its founders.
