Horizon Transport and its affiliate Wave Express implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) effective December 31, 2022, transferring ownership from founder Marion Schrock to the companies' employees. The move makes Horizon and Wave Express 100% employee-owned (covering about 95 employees jointly) and was pursued by Schrock as a founder succession/exit alternative to a sale to private equity or competitors.

Graycliff Partners provided $12.5 million of subordinated debt and structured equity to support the ESOP transaction, which transferred ownership from prior investor Blackford Capital and provides liquidity and growth capital to the business and employee-owners.
