SMEC Co., Ltd. has signed an MOU to acquire Hyundai Wia’s Machine Tool Division, with an estimated acquisition cost of about 340 billion won. SMEC is forming a consortium with Rylson Private Equity, which will participate as a financial investor to support the acquisition negotiation.

The sale (SPA signed in July) comprised 172.1 billion won for shares and 205 billion won for factories/real estate, with the transaction enabling SsangYong C&E/Hahn & Co. to recoup nearly 440 billion won.
