TPG Acquires 99.02% Stake in Poonawalla Housing Finance

TPG, through its Asia-focused private equity platform TPG Capital Asia, has completed the acquisition of a 99.02% equity stake in Poonawalla Housing Finance Limited from Poonawalla Fincorp Limited and will infuse up to INR 1,000 crore of additional equity to support growth. PHFL is a pan‑India affordable housing finance company with a deep branch network and ~Rs. 6,571 crore AUM (Jun'23); TPG intends to partner with existing management to scale the business in the affordable housing segment.

Bain Capital to Acquire 90% Stake in Adani Capital and Adani Housing Finance

Bain Capital has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 90% of Adani Capital and Adani Housing (Adani Housing Finance), buying out the Adani family's private investments while Gaurav Gupta will roll his stake and remain CEO. Bain is committing approximately $120 million (INR 1,000 crore) of primary capital and providing a $50 million liquidity line to support growth as the lenders scale MSME, housing and rural lending; the deal is expected to close in Q4 2023 subject to approvals.
