Jackalope Brewing Company Acquires Black Abbey Brewing Company

Jackalope Brewing Company has acquired Nashville-area craft brewer Black Abbey Brewing Company, formalizing a relationship the two breweries say has existed for more than a decade. The move will preserve Black Abbey's European-inspired brewing identity while providing increased production capacity, broader distribution, and additional resources to support long-term brand development and regional growth.

Ackley Brands Acquires Mac & Jack's Brewing Company

Family-owned Ackley Brands of Seattle has acquired Mac & Jack's Brewing Company, a 30-year-old craft brewery based in Redmond, Washington. The founders, Mac Rankin and Jack Schropp, will retain leadership/consulting roles and the existing brewery team will remain in place as Ackley integrates the brand into its Pacific Northwest beverage portfolio.

Tacala Acquires Nine 7 Brew Cafes from Brew Team TN

Birmingham-based Tacala acquired nine 7 Brew drive-thru cafes from Brew Team TN in Tennessee, increasing its 7 Brew portfolio to 31 locations. Tacala, a portfolio company of Altamont Capital Partners and the largest Taco Bell franchisee in the U.S., continues to expand its quick-service footprint while focusing on managing its Taco Bell and 7 Brew businesses.

Sapporo U.S.A. Acquires Stone Brewing

Sapporo U.S.A. has agreed to acquire Stone Brewing, combining Sapporo's U.S. business with one of America's largest craft brewers. The deal (expected to close in August 2022) gives Sapporo bi-coastal brewing capacity at Stone's Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia breweries and lets Stone continue operating its taprooms and breweries under existing branding and management.

Uncommon Equity Acquires HopCat (Project BarFly, LLC)

Chicago-based private investment firm Uncommon Equity LLC has acquired Grand Rapids-based Project BarFly, LLC, which does business as HopCat, a regional casual dining and craft-beer restaurant group operating 12 Michigan locations and one in Lincoln, Nebraska. Financial terms were not disclosed; senior debt was provided by OakNorth Bank PLC and Rob Selati will participate as a strategic investor through Saxonwold Capital as part of the new ownership group.

Montage Partners Acquires Moab Brewery

Montage Partners, a private equity firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, has acquired Moab Brewery, the city of Moab’s only microbrewery and distillery founded in 1996. The founders, including John Borkoski and Dave Sabey, sold the business with The Forbes M+A Group advising on the transaction; Montage plans to continue growing the brand and operations.
