Piraeus Bank S.A., a subsidiary of Piraeus Financial Holdings, has agreed to acquire the parent company of Ethniki Insurance (Ethniki Holdings S.à.r.l.) from CVC Capital Partners Fund VII (and National Bank of Greece per later disclosures) for €600 million in cash. The acquisition gives Piraeus control of one of Greece’s largest composite insurers (life and non-life), broadening the bank’s product offering and diversifying its revenue base while being accretive to capital metrics.

The portfolio is largely secured by commercial real estate and hotel assets and expands Bain Capital's presence in the Greek NPL and leasing market.
