Insurance Acquisitions in Pennsylvania

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired B&W Insurance Agency, Inc., a Washington, Pennsylvania-based personal and commercial insurance brokerage. Terms were not disclosed; the B&W team, including Paul Barzd III and Jim Cote, will remain in Washington and report into Gallagher Select as part of Gallagher's strategy to expand its retail brokerage footprint in southwest Pennsylvania.

Integrity Marketing Group (Integrity) has acquired AIMCOR Group, a national insurance distribution organization based in Malvern, Pennsylvania. AIMCOR’s leadership and owners will remain with the business and become owners in Integrity as the companies integrate AIMCOR’s BGA-focused distribution, services and technology into Integrity’s life, health and wealth platform.

Hilb Group, a Richmond-based property & casualty and employee benefits brokerage (and portfolio company of The Carlyle Group), acquired an unnamed Pennsylvania-based property and casualty agency effective January 1, 2026. The acquisition expands Hilb Group’s presence and product offering across the Mid-Atlantic region as part of its ongoing acquisitive growth strategy.

OneDigital has acquired Tyrol Insurance Agency, a family-owned property and casualty insurance firm with offices in Newton, Pennsylvania and Carefree, Arizona. The acquisition expands OneDigital's P-C footprint—strengthening its presence in Pennsylvania and establishing a presence in Arizona—while integrating Tyrol's 14-person team into OneDigital's national insurance, financial services and HR platform.

Sands Point Risk, a multi-program MGA platform backed by Avesi Partners, has acquired BRM Specialty Markets, a medical stop-loss managing general underwriter based in the Philadelphia area. BRM will continue to operate under its existing brand and leadership while gaining access to Sands Point's resources to support growth and scaling of its stop-loss underwriting capabilities.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired The Equinox Agency, LLC, an employee health and benefits consulting firm based in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. The Equinox team will remain in place and integrate with Gallagher’s Northeast employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations to expand Gallagher’s benefits capabilities in the Lehigh Valley region; terms were not disclosed.

OneDigital has acquired Custom Benefit Plans, Inc. (CBP) and Annuity Vault, Inc., two Willow Grove, Pennsylvania-based general agencies, to deepen its national general agency capabilities. The deal expands OneDigital’s Medicare, ACA and annuity offerings and brings CBP’s team and Annuity Vault’s annuity distribution capabilities onto OneDigital’s Kistler Tiffany Benefits general agency platform.

New Mountain Capital has completed the acquisition of NSM Insurance Group's U.S. commercial insurance division. The business — covering 15 niche insurance programs and NSM Insurance Brokers — will operate as an independent specialty commercial MGA (rebranded Novacore) to accelerate growth, innovation and scale under New Mountain's backing.

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA), a business of Marsh, has acquired Arthur Hall Insurance, a full-service insurance agency based in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The acquisition will bring Arthur Hall's commercial and personal lines expertise into MMA's network and establish a new MMA presence in Delaware; terms were not disclosed.

Martin & Company has acquired IDP's bureau reporting business and the COMPASS reporting software platform from IDP, expanding its insurance reporting, business intelligence and analytics capabilities. The deal adds bureau reporting services that report to all major bureaus across U.S. states and a BI/analytics platform, supporting Martin & Company's strategy to broaden its regulatory compliance and analytics offerings for carriers and MGAs.

Risk Strategies, a North American specialty insurance broker, has acquired Griffith Insurance, LLP, a full-service independent insurance agency based in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The acquisition expands Risk Strategies' presence and capabilities in Pennsylvania—adding construction-focused commercial lines and high-net-worth private client services to its specialty practices. Union Bay Acquisition LLC, an aggregator of property-casualty insurance agencies, has acquired the assets of Loyalhanna Insurance Group of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The deal — Union Bay's sixteenth acquisition and seventh in Pennsylvania — expands the buyer's reach into the Pittsburgh and greater Western Pennsylvania insurance markets; terms were not disclosed.

Senior Market Sales (SMS), an Omaha-based insurance marketing organization and part of the Alliant Insurance Services family, has acquired Centurion Senior Services, a Pennsylvania-based Medicare insurance agency. The acquisition strengthens OneDigital’s P&C capabilities and expands its Mid-Atlantic footprint, with GMG co-owners joining OneDigital’s leadership team.

Yurconic Agency, a platform partner of Keystone Agency Partners, has acquired WR Sims Agency effective November 1, 2024, expanding Yurconic's footprint to 17 locations. The acquisition strengthens Yurconic's commercial insurance capabilities in central Pennsylvania; WR Sims' owner Jeff Sims and staff will join the Yurconic team and the Williamsport office will remain open.

Keystone Agency Partners (KAP) has acquired Myers, Benner Corporation, an Allentown, Pennsylvania insurance agency specializing in coverage for towing operations, garages, truck dealerships and school districts. The deal — KAP's 23rd platform partner — expands KAP's presence in Pennsylvania and will keep Myers, Benner's President Peter Dooley in place while providing access to KAP's network, technology and resources.

The Yurconic Agency has acquired J L Davis Insurance Agency, marking the agency's eighth acquisition and expanding its presence into the Gilbertsville area. The deal increases The Yurconic Agency's total locations to 16; The Yurconic Agency is a platform partner of Keystone Agency Partners (KAP), which was founded in partnership with affiliates of Bain Capital.

Hub International Limited has acquired Insurance Management Company (IMC), a commercial insurance and risk management firm based in Erie, Pennsylvania. The IMC team, led by President John Bloomstine, will join Hub Three Rivers to strengthen Hub’s specialty commercial insurance and risk management capabilities in the region; terms were not disclosed.

The Yurconic Agency has acquired Strausser Insurance, a family-run agency based in Hamburg, Pennsylvania. The transaction — the agency's seventh acquisition and part of its partnership with Keystone Agency Partners — expands Yurconic's footprint to 15 locations in the region.

Keystone Agency Partners (KAP) completed its acquisition of Keystone Insurers Group effective July 1, 2024. NSM Insurance Group has completed the acquisition of Strategic Underwriters International (SUI), a Doylestown, Pennsylvania-based managing general agent (MGA) and leader in the facultative casualty reinsurance market. The deal expands NSM's specialty insurance capabilities in facultative casualty reinsurance and aims to leverage NSM's resources — including product development, technology systems and AI initiatives — to grow SUI's underwriting platform.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. acquired Pittsburgh-based Crawford Insurance, LLC, a retail property/casualty insurance agency that serves commercial and personal lines clients in Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. Terms were not disclosed; James Crawford and his team will remain in place and operate under the direction of Sean Gallagher within Gallagher’s Great Lakes retail P/C brokerage operations.

MIB Group Holdings, Inc. has agreed to acquire RiskRighter, LLC from Crump Life Insurance Services, LLC to expand MIB's Medical Data Solutions and underwriting services portfolio. The deal brings RiskRighter's medically trained underwriting team and medical-record summarization capabilities into MIB's offering to life insurers and distribution partners; financial terms were not disclosed.

Risk Strategies, a national specialty insurance brokerage headquartered in Boston, has acquired Robert C. Williams Insurance Agency, Inc., a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania property & casualty retail specialist with expertise in fast-food/franchising and personal lines. Terms were not disclosed; the Williams team (led by Rick and Barbara Williams) will join Risk Strategies to expand its specialty capabilities in franchising and personal lines.

Brown & Brown Dealer Services (a division of Brown & Brown, Inc.) has acquired the assets of DealerMax, a provider of F&I training and tailored finance & insurance products for automotive dealers. DealerMax's team will join BBDS and continue operating from Berwyn, Pennsylvania, with a transition period supported by the Maxim family owners.

World Insurance Associates LLC (World), a national insurance brokerage headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey, acquired the business of Exchange Underwriters, Inc. of Washington, Pennsylvania on December 1, 2023. The acquisition expands World’s local footprint and product offering in the Pittsburgh region; MarshBerry advised World and Dowling Hales advised Exchange Underwriters.

Risk Strategies acquired Fairmount Benefits Company, a Pennsylvania-based specialty employee benefits brokerage and consulting firm, to strengthen its national employee benefits practice. Marsh McLennan Agency, a subsidiary of Marsh, has acquired Philadelphia-based Graham Company, a risk management consultancy and independent insurance and employee benefits broker. All 215 Graham employees will join Marsh McLennan Agency, enabling the firm to expand its business insurance and employee benefits capabilities in the East region.

Risk Strategies, a national specialty insurance brokerage, has acquired JW Surety Bonds — the largest-volume surety bond producer in the U.S. — along with sister companies Bryant Surety Bonds, Inc. and Lance Surety Bonds Associates, Inc.; financial terms were not disclosed. The deal adds JW Surety’s online quoting capabilities, nearly 40,000 clients, and MGU/specialty surety capabilities to Risk Strategies’ national Surety Practice.

Simplicity Group Holdings, Inc. has acquired Commonwealth Capital Brokerage, LLC, a Pennsylvania-based life and annuity brokerage agency led by Drew Grifo and Stephen Ruggieri. The two leaders join Simplicity as partners to access the group's sales, marketing, lead generation and proprietary technology to accelerate growth and better serve their network of advisors.

Hub International Limited acquired the assets of Weiss-Schantz Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency serving the Lehigh Valley and Eastern Pennsylvania. The Weiss-Schantz team (including Tim Schantz Sr. and Tim Schantz Jr.) will join Hub Three Rivers, giving the agency access to Hub's broader risk management, employee benefits and insurance capabilities.

Highstreet Insurance Partners (HSIP), a Traverse City, Michigan-based independent insurance agency, acquired two Pennsylvania agencies: Davis Insurance Agency (Lock Haven) and Michael Pigott Agency (Bensalem). Both firms will join Highstreet's Northeast Region as the company continues to expand its regional footprint and community-based agency network.

Hilb Group has acquired West Chester, Pennsylvania-based Oak Ridge Surety Agency, effective December 30, 2022. The small surety-focused agency will join Hilb’s Mid-Atlantic operations and integrate with Wayne, Pennsylvania-based Wharton Surety Consultants to expand Hilb’s surety capabilities and regional presence.

Simplicity Group has acquired Triton Brokerage Group, a national distributor of annuity, life, long-term care, and disability insurance. Triton founders Bob Ogurcak and Matt Woodson join Simplicity as partners; the business becomes the 47th company in Simplicity's partnership to expand its distribution, point-of-sale and wealth channel capabilities.

Union Bay Acquisition LLC, an aggregator of property-casualty insurance agencies, has acquired LaBrozzi Insurance Group, Inc., a Bradford, Pennsylvania-based independent insurance agency. The transaction expands Union Bay's Northeast footprint and adds local P&C insurance expertise to its Union Bay Risk Advisors portfolio; terms were not disclosed.

Hilb Group, a Carlyle-backed insurance brokerage based in Richmond, Virginia, has acquired Pennsylvania-based Sharpline Insurance Brokerages (including Madison Risk Group and Trinity Asset Protection). Verily has acquired Granular Insurance Company from Swiss Re, with Granular becoming a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Verily. Swiss Re exchanged its investment in Granular for an equity stake in Verily and will no longer be a direct shareholder in Granular while remaining committed to the U.S. employer stop‑loss market.

Union Bay Acquisition LLC, an aggregator of property-casualty insurance agencies, has acquired Farrell Insurance Associates Inc., an independent insurance agency based in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. One80 Intermediaries has acquired Agentic Insurance, LLC, a Pennsylvania-based specialty wholesale broker focused on professional/financial lines. The deal expands One80's financial lines capabilities by adding Agentic's expertise in E&O, management liability, cyber, media, allied healthcare and environmental coverages; terms were not disclosed.

AssuredPartners, Inc. has acquired The Shepherd Agency, a Fort Washington, Pennsylvania-based bond-only insurance agency specializing in contract surety bonds. The Shepherd Agency’s ten-person team will remain under current leadership and join AssuredPartners’ Construction and Surety operations to expand its surety capabilities in the Philadelphia / Delaware Valley market.

Choice Financial Group, a portfolio company of Northlane Capital Partners, acquired Pennsylvania-based Fonner Insurance Associates in Abington, PA. The Fonner family will continue to manage the agency as Choice expands its regional footprint — this marks Choice's sixth acquisition since partnering with Northlane and its first office in Pennsylvania.

White Mountains Insurance Group has signed a definitive agreement to sell NSM Insurance Group to investment funds affiliated with The Carlyle Group for $1.775 billion. Carlyle will partner with NSM's founder-led management team to pursue operational improvements, accretive M&A and strategic investments in technology and data & analytics; the deal is expected to close in the second half of 2022, subject to regulatory approvals.

AssuredPartners, a national insurance broker headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida, has acquired Don Jacobs Insurance Services of New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania. The agency's 23-person team and roughly $3 million in annualized revenue will join AssuredPartners while continuing to be led by Don Jacobs.

World Insurance Associates LLC (WIA) acquired Corporate Benefits Alliance, Inc. (CBA) and Wealth Advisory Group, Inc. (WAG) of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, effective March 1, 2022. The acquisitions expand WIA’s employee benefits and wealth management capabilities; terms were not disclosed.

Risk Strategies, a national specialty insurance brokerage, acquired the retail brokerage operations and assets of Joyce Insurance Group — including Joyce Jackman Bell and Joyce Haggerty Bell — to deepen its presence and specialty capabilities in Pennsylvania. The Hilb Group announced it has acquired Wharton Surety Consultants, a Wayne, Pennsylvania-based surety and fidelity bond specialist, with the transaction effective December 31, 2021. Agency Principal Eric Follman and his team joined Hilb's Mid-Atlantic regional operations as the acquisition expands Hilb's presence in the national surety marketplace.
