Transportation Acquisitions in Minnesota

RailCube, a Netherlands-based freight railway software vendor, has acquired Spark TS, a U.S.-based provider of rail safety and compliance software and related testing and training services. The acquisition expands RailCube's presence in the North American railway market and adds compliance, drug & alcohol testing, and training capabilities to its offering.

Nashville-based Parking Management Company (PMC) has acquired ParkPoolr, a Minneapolis-based parking technology and management business. The deal brings ParkPoolr's proprietary payment processing and lot-management technology into PMC's tech suite and expands PMC's self-parking footprint by 61 lots across 21 new markets.

Miovision has acquired Global Traffic Technologies (GTT) from Vontier Corporation for approximately US$107 million. The acquisition brings GTT's Opticom emergency pre-emption and traffic signal priority solutions onto Miovision’s AI-powered traffic platform, expanding Miovision’s capabilities and U.S. presence while integrating GTT staff into Miovision.

Descartes Systems Group acquired GroundCloud, a Minneapolis-based provider of final-mile carrier SaaS solutions that combine route execution, safety/compliance and video telematics. The deal involved approximately $138 million in up-front cash plus an earn-out of up to $80 million tied to revenue targets.

Supply Chain Services, a portfolio company of Sole Source Capital LLC, has acquired Access POS, an AIDC hardware and repair & maintenance provider headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota. The deal — an add-on for SCS and Sole Source's fifth for the platform since 2020 — will expand SCS' repair & maintenance capabilities and create cross-selling opportunities across its customer base; terms were not disclosed.

Dickinson Fleet Services (a Cox Automotive brand) has acquired Diesel Minnesota, a St. Paul-based diesel repair and fleet maintenance provider. The deal expands Dickinson's geographic reach and maintenance capabilities in the greater Minneapolis market and across Minnesota, while providing greater stability and growth opportunities for DMI's employees and customers.

GlobalTranz Enterprises, a Phoenix-based technology-driven 3PL, has acquired Cerasis, an Eagan, Minnesota-based provider of third-party multimodal and managed transportation services. The acquisition (closed January 15, 2020) expands GlobalTranz's managed transportation, final-mile and reverse logistics capabilities and strengthens its presence in the Minneapolis area; purchase price was not disclosed.
