Platinum Equity Acquires Majority Interest in Kohler Energy from Kohler Co.

Platinum Equity has closed the transaction to acquire a majority interest in Kohler Energy from Kohler Co., establishing Kohler Energy as an independent, standalone business. Kohler Co. remains an investment partner, Brian Melka will serve as CEO and David Kohler will sit on the board; financial terms were not disclosed. Platinum Equity said it will invest in growth and operational initiatives to accelerate Kohler Energy's position in the global energy resilience market.

Abry Partners Acquires Portfolio Holding from Capital Z Partners

Boston-based private equity firm Abry Partners has agreed to acquire Portfolio Holding, Inc., a Lake Forest, California provider of reinsurance management and F&I products, from Capital Z Partners. Portfolio's management will remain in place and retain significant equity; Abry plans to support the company's national expansion in the automotive dealer market and other warranty/reinsurance markets.

Kohlberg & Company Acquires Majority Stake in EN Engineering from General Atlantic

Kohlberg & Company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in EN Engineering from growth equity firm General Atlantic. EN Engineering, headquartered in Warrenville, Illinois, is a utility services and engineering firm with over 1,500 professionals serving gas, electric, pipeline and industrial customers; Kohlberg cited its infrastructure services experience to support the company's next phase of growth and geographic expansion.

AM Conservation (Franklin Energy) Acquires Assets of Energy Federation, Inc. (EFI)

AM Conservation, the products division of Franklin Energy, has agreed to purchase the assets of Energy Federation, Inc. (EFI) to combine product lines and marketplace capabilities and become a more comprehensive provider of products and marketplace solutions to the utility industry. Because EFI is a nonprofit, the closing is conditioned on final approval from the Massachusetts Attorney General and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

Franklin Templeton Acquires Lexington Partners
