Sonepar announced a series of North American acquisitions in 2024, completing seven deals that together add more than $2 billion in revenue, roughly 1,700 associates and 89 branches to its network. Named transactions reported in industry press include acquisitions of Madison Electric Company, Standard Electric Company, Echo Electric Supply Company, Electric Supply Center and Summit Electric Supply, part of Sonepar’s continued U.S. geographic expansion and capability build-out.

Sonepar (World Electric) Acquires Electric Supply of Tampa (ESI) from Supply Chain Equity Partners

Sonepar's U.S. subsidiary World Electric acquired Electric Supply of Tampa, LLC (dba ESI) from private-equity owner Supply Chain Equity Partners. The deal adds nine locations and over 220 associates to Sonepar's U.S. network, with ESI's contractor business to align with World Electric and its utility segment to integrate with Irby Utilities.

Southwire Company Acquires Madison Electric Products LLC

Southwire Company, LLC has acquired Madison Electric Products LLC, a Solon, Ohio-based manufacturer of electrical components and accessories. The acquisition adds Madison's product lines, brands and innovation pipeline to Southwire's Tools, Components and Assembled Solutions business and brings 34 employees along with facilities in Solon, OH and Duluth, GA.

Federal Signal Acquires Standard Equipment Company

Federal Signal Corporation completed the acquisition of substantially all assets and operations of Standard Equipment Company, a distributor of specialty maintenance and infrastructure equipment based in Elmhurst, Illinois. The deal closed Oct. 4, 2024, with an initial purchase price of $38.8 million plus a contingent earn-out of up to $4.8 million; Federal Signal said the acquisition expands its aftermarket parts, service, rental and used-equipment capabilities and footprint in Illinois and Indiana.

Crete Mechanical Group Acquires Majority Stake in Michigan Electric Company

Crete Mechanical Group of Tampa, Florida acquired a majority stake in an unnamed Michigan-based electrical contracting company founded in 2005. The partnership adds over 50 specialized employees to Crete's partner network and expands Crete's geographic footprint and service offerings into Michigan; terms were not disclosed.

Sciens Building Solutions Acquires Standard Electronics

Sciens Building Solutions, a Carlyle-backed fire and life safety platform, has acquired El Cajon, California-based Standard Electronics, a provider of fire alarm and low-voltage systems serving the greater San Diego area. The add-on expands Sciens' Southern California footprint and brings additional expertise serving K-12 schools, government and other commercial verticals.
