Macquarie Asset Management Acquires 50% of Enel Green Power Hellas

Macquarie Asset Management, on behalf of co-investors and managed funds, has acquired a 50% stake in Enel Green Power Hellas from Enel Group for approximately €250 million. The deal covers a 566 MW portfolio of onshore wind, solar and hydropower projects in operation or under construction in Greece and establishes a joint venture to accelerate development, storage and hybrid solutions across the company's pipeline.

Macquarie Asset Management Acquires 49.9% Stake in Hydro Rein

Macquarie Asset Management has completed a US$332 million investment to acquire a 49.9% stake in Hydro Rein from Hydro (Norsk Hydro), with the stake held by the Macquarie Green Energy and Climate Opportunities Fund. The investment will finance Hydro Rein's 8.4 GW renewable project pipeline across the Nordics and Brazil and support expansion of renewable solutions for industrial decarbonization.

A consortium led by Macquarie Asset Management has agreed to acquire an additional 20% equity interest in National Gas from National Grid, taking the consortium's total ownership to 80%. The deal, on equivalent terms to the original January 2023 transaction, is subject to regulatory clearance and is expected to complete in the second half of 2023; the consortium also holds an option to acquire the remaining 20% between May and July 2024.

Macquarie Asset Management has finalised an agreement to acquire a 40% equity interest in Open Fiber from Enel for €2.12 billion, while CDP Equity will hold the remaining 60% following Enel’s full exit. Open Fiber operates Italy’s largest FTTH network (over 12 million households passed) and the investment will support the company’s continued rollout of ultrafast broadband across Italy; completion was expected in Q4 2021 subject to regulatory approvals.
