Bain Capital Private Equity Acquires Majority Stake in Mash Holdings

Bain Capital Private Equity agreed to acquire a majority stake in Tokyo-based Mash Holdings, the operator of fashion and lifestyle brands including gelato pique, SNIDEL and FRAY I.D. The firm said it will partner with Mash's management to strengthen the company's business foundation and accelerate medium- to long-term growth across its fashion, beauty and food brands.

Bain Capital Acquires Significant Stake in 1440 Foods

Bain Capital Private Equity has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a significant stake in 1440 Foods, a New York–based portfolio of sports and active nutrition brands, alongside existing investor 4x4 Capital. The transaction (expected to close in December) will leave CEO Azania Andrews and the current management team in place; debt financing is being provided by Fortress Investment Group.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation Acquires Standard International

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced it will acquire the brands and most affiliates of Standard International, the parent company of The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels, forming a new dedicated lifestyle group headquartered in New York City. The asset-light transaction covers management, franchise and license contracts for 21 open hotels (about 2,000 rooms) and includes a $150 million base purchase price with up to $185 million of contingent consideration.

Bain Capital-Led Consortium Acquires Hitachi Metals

A consortium led by Bain Capital Private Equity, together with Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) and Japan Industrial Solutions (JIS), closed a tender offer to acquire Hitachi Metals, Ltd. The investors said they will provide capital and management support to accelerate growth and pursue opportunities in areas such as electric vehicles; Hitachi Metals reported ¥942.7 billion in revenue and about 27,700 employees as of March 2022.

The acquisition from Gryphon Investors will support Dessert Holdings’ next stage of growth—pursuing product innovation, organic expansion and add-on opportunities—and is expected to close in Q2 2021 (debt financing led by Antares Capital).
