Zscaler Acquires Smokescreen Technologies

Zscaler, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Smokescreen Technologies, a provider of active defense and deception technology, to integrate those capabilities into the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange. The acquisition (expected to close in Zscaler's fiscal Q4 ending July 31, 2021) aims to improve detection of sophisticated targeted attacks and provide richer threat telemetry for proactive hunting.

Zscaler Acquires Cloudneeti

Zscaler announced the intent to acquire Cloudneeti, a Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) startup, to extend Zscaler's Cloud Security Platform with public-cloud misconfiguration detection and automated remediation capabilities. The acquisition will broaden Zscaler's data protection coverage across SaaS, IaaS and PaaS environments; terms were not disclosed and the deal was expected to close prior to Zscaler's fiscal third quarter.

Zywave Acquires miEdge

Zywave, the Milwaukee-based insurtech provider, acquired miEdge, a Bedford, New Hampshire data and lead-generation provider for the insurance industry. The acquisition integrates miEdge's prospecting database and analytics into Zywave's Product Cloud Portfolios to expand Zywave's data capabilities and prospecting offerings for insurance agencies and carriers.

Zscaler Acquires ShiftRight

Zscaler, Inc. completed the acquisition of ShiftRight, a startup specializing in closed-loop security workflow automation, and is integrating ShiftRight's technology into the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform. The deal (closed in Zscaler's fiscal Q4 ended July 31, 2022) will automate security management, reduce incident resolution time and provide greater visibility into customers' security posture; terms were not disclosed.

Ribbon Communications Acquires Edgewater Networks

Ribbon Communications has signed an agreement to acquire Edgewater Networks, a provider of Network Edge Orchestration and SD-WAN/edge devices, for an aggregate purchase price of $110 million in cash, deferred payments and stock. The deal expands Ribbon’s core-to-edge portfolio (including SBCs, SD-WAN and analytics), is expected to be immediately accretive, and positions Ribbon as a market leader in enterprise Session Border Controllers and network edge orchestration.

Zscaler Acquires SPLX to Expand AI Security Capabilities

Zscaler, Inc. has acquired AI security pioneer SPLX to extend the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange with AI asset discovery, automated red teaming, runtime guardrails, and governance across the AI lifecycle. The deal integrates SPLX's technology for discovery, risk assessment and remediation into Zscaler's cloud security platform to help enterprises secure models, agent workflows, and RAG pipelines from development through deployment.
