Houston-based Asset Living has acquired Dallas-based Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services, a leading manager of affordable and multifamily housing in Texas. The deal adds roughly 30,000 units and more than 900 employees to Asset Living's portfolio, expanding its footprint and affordable-housing management capabilities across Texas.

Asset Living Acquires Arizona-Based Shelton Residential

Houston-based property manager Asset Living has acquired Shelton Residential, an Arizona-based property management firm that oversees more than 17,000 multifamily units across Arizona, Texas, Colorado and New Mexico. The deal expands Asset Living's presence in the Southwestern U.S.; owners Tom and Pam Shelton and the Shelton team will join Asset Living to lead the company's Southwest region.

Allegion Acquires Gatewise

Allegion plc, through a subsidiary, has acquired Gatewise Incorporated, a Houston-based provider of cloud-based gate entry and access control software for the U.S. multifamily market. Gatewise CEO Amit Sherman will join Allegion to support integration and growth; terms were not disclosed. The acquisition complements Allegion's Zentra multifamily access solution by adding perimeter access and mobile/cloud capabilities.

GI Partners Acquires Valet Living

GI Partners, a San Francisco-based private investment firm, has acquired Valet Living, the Tampa-based, full-service amenities and doorstep waste provider to the multifamily housing industry, from funds managed by Ares Management's Private Equity Group and Harvest Partners. The investment will support Valet Living's continued innovation and nationwide expansion, including organic growth and acquisitions of local operators, and build on the company's app-enabled resident services and proprietary technology.
