Arkema Acquires Dow's Flexible Packaging Laminating Adhesives Business

Arkema finalized the acquisition on December 2, 2024 of Dow's flexible packaging laminating adhesives business for an enterprise value of US$150 million. The business (around US$250 million in annual sales, ~280 employees, five production sites across Italy, the United States and Mexico) will be integrated into Arkema's adhesive platform (Bostik) to expand its flexible packaging product offering and capture cost and development synergies.

Arkema Acquires Permoseal to Strengthen Adhesives Position in South Africa

Arkema completed the acquisition of Permoseal (owner of the Alcolin brand) on July 1, 2022, bringing a South African adhesives leader into its Bostik adhesive solutions offering. Permoseal generated €43 million in sales in 2021, operates two production plants in South Africa and will help Arkema/Bostik expand in South Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa across construction, DIY and packaging markets.

Bakelite Acquires Sestec to Add 100% Bio‑Based Adhesive Technology

Bakelite, the Atlanta-based producer of thermoset specialty resins, has acquired Sestec, a Poland-based developer of 100% bio-based adhesives for wood and composite panels. The deal adds Sestec’s sustainable adhesive systems and its Kraków administration office plus a laboratory and production facility in Trzebinia to Bakelite’s global product portfolio, reinforcing Bakelite’s capability and sustainability positioning in the adhesives market.

Meridian Adhesives Group Acquires Adhesives Division of Tri-Tex Co. Inc.

Meridian Adhesives Group has acquired the adhesives division of Canadian chemical manufacturer Tri-Tex Co. Inc., adding hot melt, water‑based, pressure‑sensitive and general‑purpose adhesives to Meridian’s Packaging Division. The deal expands Meridian’s packaging adhesive product lines and geographic footprint; Tri‑Tex concurrently sold its Dyes & Pigments and Surfactants divisions to Polyventive.
