Gryphon Investors Acquires Benoist Brothers Supply Co.

Gryphon Investors has acquired Benoist Brothers Supply Co., a 90-year-old Midwest HVAC/R distributor with 13 branches, and will operate the business as an independent division of its Wittichen Supply Holding Company. Benoist's management and the Benoist family retain a minority stake; the deal creates a multi-region HVAC/R distribution platform to expand geographic coverage and product availability across the Midwest and Southeast.

Gryphon Investors has acquired Ed's Supply Company, a Nashville-based wholesale HVAC/R distributor with 19 locations across Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee, and will operate it as an independent division of its Heritage Distribution Holdings platform. Financial terms were not disclosed; the existing management team will remain in place with former president Steve Byram becoming an advisor and Tucker Byram named President. The deal expands Heritage Distribution Holdings' multi-region HVAC/R footprint in the Southeast.

Heritage Distribution Holdings Acquires Coastal Supply Company

Heritage Distribution Holdings, the Gryphon Investors-backed HVAC/R distribution platform, has acquired Coastal Supply Company Inc., a 40-year-old, family-owned HVAC/R distributor based in Knoxville, Tennessee with six branch locations. Coastal will operate under HDH’s Ed’s Supply division and remain led by General Manager David Kennedy as part of HDH’s continued geographic expansion in the Southeast.

Gryphon Investors Acquires AirX Climate Solutions from L Catterton

Gryphon Investors has agreed to acquire AirX Climate Solutions (ACS), a specialty HVAC designer, manufacturer, distributor, and servicer headquartered in Oklahoma City, from private equity firm L Catterton. Gryphon will partner with ACS management, who are reinvesting, to expand geographic footprint, grow aftermarket and service offerings, and pursue add-on acquisitions; the deal is expected to close in Q4 2023 and financial terms were not disclosed.

Investcorp Acquires Majority Stake in Shearer Supply

Investcorp announced a majority investment in Shearer Supply, a leading independent HVAC equipment distributor headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Shearer—founded in 1983 and operating 22 branches across the Southern U.S. serving over 5,500 contractor customers—will continue to have the Shearer family, management team and PNC Riverarch Capital as shareholders; financial terms were not disclosed. Investcorp intends to support organic growth and further geographic expansion.

Silver State Acquires The Whitman Company

Silver State HVAC, Refrigeration & Plumbing has acquired The Whitman Company, Inc., a commercial HVAC service provider founded in La Mirada, California in 1985, to expand Silver State's Southern California footprint. The deal is an add-on to Silver State's platform (which is backed by The Edgewater Funds) and strengthens its commercial HVAC installation, maintenance and replacement capabilities across Los Angeles and Orange counties.
