Smile Brands Acquires Gateway Dental

Smile Brands Inc., a Gryphon Investors–backed dental support organization based in Irvine, California, has partnered with Gateway Dental in Seattle to provide full-service administrative support while the practice continues to operate under its existing brand. Gateway Dental, founded in 1992 and led by Dr. G. Glenn Buchanan and Dr. John Kim, will keep its existing staff of 14 and retain clinical operations while Smile Brands supplies purchasing, payroll, IT, billing, facilities and marketing support.

Smile Brands Acquires Midwest Dental

Smile Brands Inc., a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors, completed the acquisition of Midwest Dental, a Dental Support Organization with over 230 offices headquartered in Mondovi, Wisconsin. The combination creates one of the largest DSOs in the U.S., representing approximately 650 offices and over 8,000 employees across 30 states; terms were not disclosed.

An affiliate of The Resolute Fund V, L.P., announced by The Jordan Company, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Dental365 from the founding shareholders and current investor Regal Healthcare Capital Partners. Dental365's founder and CEO, Dr. Scott Asnis, is partnering with the buyer and will continue to lead the company as it pursues accelerated geographic expansion and continued scaling of its dental service organization.
