University Headquarters (UHQ), an online education and career information publisher based in Scottsdale, Arizona, has acquired the website Discover Early Childhood EDU to expand its early childhood education content. The acquisition complements UHQ's recent content purchases (including Cyber Degrees EDU) and is intended to increase exposure to prospective early childhood teachers and broaden UHQ's education portfolio.

Clearlake Capital Acquires Discovery Education from Francisco Partners

An affiliate of Clearlake Capital Group agreed to acquire a majority stake in Discovery Education from Francisco Partners, with Francisco Partners retaining a minority equity interest. The deal will leave Discovery Education’s CEO Scott Kinney and management team in place and is intended to accelerate platform growth, deepen distribution, and support strategic add-on M&A to expand the company’s digital K–12 curriculum offerings.

Busy Bees North America Acquires 13 Early Learning Schools from Kids N Us and Birch Tree Academy

Busy Bees North America (BBNA) acquired thirteen early learning centers in the greater Seattle area — seven Kids N Us locations and six Birch Tree Academy locations — expanding BBNA’s U.S. footprint into Washington State. The deal adds roughly 380 educators and staff and more than 1,575 children and families to Busy Bees’ network, growing BBNA to about 270 centers across the United States and Canada.

Discovery Education Acquires DreamBox Learning

Discovery Education, a Clearlake Capital–backed global edtech company, agreed to and completed the acquisition of DreamBox Learning, a Bellevue-based PK–12 adaptive learning platform serving more than 6 million students and 600,000 educators. The deal (terms undisclosed) brings DreamBox’s adaptive math and reading technology into Discovery Education’s suite to expand product capabilities and reach; DreamBox investors Elliott Investment Management and TPG’s The Rise Fund will retain minority stakes.

Children of America Acquires Oceanside Academy (Jupiter, FL)

Children of America, an early childhood education operator based in Delray Beach, Florida, has acquired Oceanside Academy, a long-standing 20,000 sq. ft. preschool in Jupiter, Florida. The acquisition expands Children of America's footprint in the Palm Beach County market and will include planned capital improvements and program integration under the COA curriculum.
