Ampersand Capital Partners Provides Growth Equity to NanoImaging Services

NanoImaging Services (NIS), a San Diego–based provider of cryo-electron microscopy services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, received a growth equity investment from Ampersand Capital Partners. The financing — which included participation by members of NIS management — will fund worldwide growth initiatives including expanding microscope capacity and adding complementary services to support structural biology and nanoparticle characterization.

NAMSA Acquires American Preclinical Services (APS)

Toledo-based NAMSA, a medical-device-focused contract research organization owned by ARCHIMED's MED Platform I, has acquired Minneapolis-based American Preclinical Services (APS). The add-on expands NAMSA's lab, surgical instrumentation and imaging capabilities and increases its footprint in Minnesota; debt financing for the deal was provided by funds managed by Ares Management Corporation.

Nexelis Acquires AIT Bioscience

The deal adds Pepscan’s proprietary CLIPS technology and epitope-mapping capabilities to Biosynth’s peptide capabilities (including vivitide) to form a new global Peptide division serving pharma, biotech, diagnostics and cosmetics customers.
