STADA Acquires Walmark from MidEuropa

STADA Arzneimittel AG has agreed to acquire Walmark a.s., a leading consumer healthcare company in Central Europe, from private equity firm MidEuropa Partners. The deal (consideration undisclosed) expands STADA's branded consumer health portfolio and strengthens its presence across Central and Eastern Europe; the transaction was expected to close in Q1 2020 subject to antitrust clearance.

Advent International and Warburg Pincus Acquire Baxter's BioPharma Solutions to Form Simtra BioPharma Solutions

Advent International and Warburg Pincus completed the acquisition of Baxter International's BioPharma Solutions (BPS) business for $4.25 billion in cash, creating a standalone CDMO named Simtra BioPharma Solutions. Simtra will operate manufacturing sites in Bloomington, Indiana and Halle, Germany, establish a corporate headquarters in New Jersey, and employ approximately 1,700 people to provide sterile contract manufacturing and parenteral delivery services to pharma and biotech customers.

Partners Group Acquires Pharmathen from BC Partners

Partners Group has agreed to acquire Pharmathen, the leading European drug delivery technology and pharmaceutical manufacturing company, from BC Partners in a transaction valued at approximately EUR 1.6 billion. The deal transfers control of Pharmathen to Partners Group (acting on behalf of its clients) and is aimed at supporting the company’s continued growth — including an intensified push into the US market — building on strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities.

Cooper Consumer Health Acquires Viatris' Over-the-Counter Business

Cooper Consumer Health has completed the acquisition of the Over-the-Counter (OTC) business of Viatris Inc., following regulatory approvals and worker council consultations. The deal brings more than 200 brands (including Betadine, Saugella, Armolipid and CB12), two manufacturing sites in Mérignac (France) and Confienza (Italy) and an R&D centre in Monza (Italy) into Cooper's platform, doubling Cooper's revenues to approximately €1.2bn.

Biocodex Acquires Majority Stake in Hilma

French pharmaceutical group Biocodex has acquired a majority stake in Hilma, a U.S.-based natural remedies start-up founded by Hilary Quartner, Nina Mullen and Lily Galef. The deal gives Biocodex a stronger foothold in the U.S. digestive-health and women’s-health segments and will help scale Hilma’s omnichannel retail strategy (DTC plus 750+ stores including Target).

Bansk Group Acquires Arcadia Consumer Healthcare from Avista Capital Partners

Bansk Group, a New York-based private investment firm focused on consumer brands, agreed to acquire Arcadia Consumer Healthcare, a U.S. consumer health platform known for OTC medicines and premium vitamins and supplements, from Avista Capital Partners. The transaction (announced Aug. 9, 2021 and completed Sept. 10, 2021) positions Bansk to expand its consumer health and wellness portfolio and accelerate brand-building and M&A-driven growth.
