CVC and Therme Group Form €1bn Therme Horizon Joint Venture

Therme Group and CVC Capital Partners announced a strategic joint venture, Therme Horizon, in a deal valued at over €1 billion that will see the partners become equal owners of a new holding company anchored by Therme Erding (Germany) and Therme Bucharest (Romania). CVC will also co-invest in the development of Therme Manchester, with closing expected in the second half of 2025 subject to regulatory approvals.

CVC Acquires Therakos Business from Mallinckrodt for $925M

CVC Capital Partners Fund IX agreed to acquire the Therakos extracorporeal photopheresis business from Mallinckrodt plc for $925 million in a carve-out transaction. CVC said it will invest in further research, indication expansion and geographic growth of Therakos while key Therakos employees will transition with the business; Mallinckrodt will use proceeds to substantially reduce net debt.

CVC DIF (via the DIF Infrastructure VII fund) has agreed to acquire a 49% stake in BALANCE Erneuerbare Energien, the biogas subsidiary of Leipzig-based VNG AG, in a growth partnership to support the business’s expansion. BALANCE operates 42 biogas facilities in northern and eastern Germany (≈197 MW thermal) and supplies green energy to roughly 180,000 households; the transaction is subject to antitrust approval.
