Parata Systems Acquires Synergy Medical

Parata Systems, a portfolio company of Frazier Healthcare Partners, has acquired Synergy Medical, a Longueuil, Quebec-based developer of pharmacy blister-card automation technologies. The deal expands Parata’s pharmacy automation capabilities—adding Synergy’s blister automation systems and roughly 150 employees—to broaden offerings for retail, hospital, long-term care and direct-to-home pharmacies.

Advent International and Warburg Pincus Acquire Baxter's BioPharma Solutions to Form Simtra BioPharma Solutions

Advent International and Warburg Pincus completed the acquisition of Baxter International's BioPharma Solutions (BPS) business for $4.25 billion in cash, creating a standalone CDMO named Simtra BioPharma Solutions. Simtra will operate manufacturing sites in Bloomington, Indiana and Halle, Germany, establish a corporate headquarters in New Jersey, and employ approximately 1,700 people to provide sterile contract manufacturing and parenteral delivery services to pharma and biotech customers.

OceanSound Partners Acquires PAR Excellence Systems Inc.

OceanSound Partners, a New York-based private equity firm, has acquired PAR Excellence Systems Inc., a Cincinnati-based provider of automated inventory management systems for healthcare, from Northlane Capital Partners. Northlane and PAR's management will remain investors; financial terms were not disclosed. OceanSound said it will invest in product development and expansion across government, non-profit, and private healthcare systems.

Pharmaron Acquires Absorption Systems

Pharmaron Beijing Co., Limited acquired 100% of Absorption Systems for up to US$137.5 million in cash. The purchase brings Absorption Systems’ non-clinical DMPK/ADME and bioanalysis capabilities and U.S. lab footprint (Philadelphia, San Diego and Boston) into Pharmaron’s integrated drug R&D services platform to expand capabilities and U.S. presence.
