QIA to Combine QNBN and Gulf Bridge International (GBI)

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) announced plans to combine the telecommunications businesses of Qatar National Broadband Network (QNBN) and Gulf Bridge International (GBI) to create a carrier‑neutral digital and AI infrastructure leader. The integration will join QNBN's nationwide passive fiber network with GBI's international submarine and terrestrial cables to boost Qatar's international connectivity, attract hyperscalers and support the country's digitalization strategy.

Quintillion operates a subsea and terrestrial high-speed fiber network and provides broadband connectivity, satellite ground station, and edge processing services to government and commercial telecommunications providers; the deal is intended to accelerate broadband expansion in Alaska and strengthen geostrategic connectivity for national defense.
