Perfetti Van Melle has completed the acquisition of Mondelēz International's developed‑market gum business across the United States, Canada and Europe (excluding Portugal pending Portuguese regulatory approval). The deal transfers brands such as Trident, Dentyne, Stimorol, Hollywood, V6, Chiclets, Bubbaloo and Bubblicious as well as manufacturing facilities in Rockford, Illinois and Skarbimierz, Poland to Perfetti Van Melle, significantly expanding its North American and European footprint.

Gum Products International (Benford Capital) Acquires International Protein Colloids

Benford Capital Partners’ portfolio company Gum Products International has completed an add-on acquisition of International Protein Colloids, a Venus, Texas-based manufacturer of proprietary gelatin and protein blends for pet treat and pet food customers. The deal will expand GPI’s product portfolio and presence in the pet end market; IPC will continue operating from its current location under President David Walsh.

Benford Capital Partners Recapitalizes Gum Products International

Chicago-based private equity firm Benford Capital Partners recapitalized Gum Products International (GPI), a Newmarket, Ontario-based food ingredients manufacturer, as the first platform investment from its Fund II. BCP will partner with founder and CEO Kenneth Tan to invest in sales, R&D and pursue add-on acquisitions focused on hydrocolloids, antimicrobials and other functional powdered ingredients to drive organic growth.

TopGum Acquires Island Abbey Nutritionals

The Colonial Group — a Greensboro, North Carolina-based managing general agency specializing in housing, recreational and specialty property & casualty insurance and premium financing — will continue operating as a stand-alone office within Brown & Brown's Wholesale Brokerage Segment.
