Benford Capital Partners Recapitalizes Gum Products International

Chicago-based private equity firm Benford Capital Partners recapitalized Gum Products International (GPI), a Newmarket, Ontario-based food ingredients manufacturer, as the first platform investment from its Fund II. BCP will partner with founder and CEO Kenneth Tan to invest in sales, R&D and pursue add-on acquisitions focused on hydrocolloids, antimicrobials and other functional powdered ingredients to drive organic growth.

Italgel S.p.A. (BU portfolio company) Acquires Protein S.A.

Brenntag Specialties Acquires Colony Gums

American Industrial Partners Acquires Global Cellulose Fibers from International Paper

American Industrial Partners (AIP) has completed the $1.5 billion acquisition of International Paper's Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF) business, with part of the consideration issued as preferred stock carrying a $190 million initial liquidation preference. GCF, headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, will operate as an independent company and reported approximately $2.3 billion in 2024 revenue with about 3,300 employees and nine manufacturing facilities across the U.S., Canada, and Poland.

American Industrial Partners Acquires AGCO's Grain & Protein Business

American Industrial Partners (AIP) has acquired AGCO Corporation's Grain & Protein division in an all-cash divestiture, creating a standalone, privately held business rebranded as Grain & Protein Technologies. The business, which operates leading brands including GSI, Cumberland, AP, Tecno and Cimbria, generates approximately $1 billion in annual revenue, employs ~3,200 people across 14 manufacturing facilities globally, and will be led by CEO Jacob Thomas.

The add-on acquisition expands Collagen Matrix's regenerative medicine and polymer capabilities, entering new clinical verticals such as ENT and general surgery and broadening its neurosurgery and peripheral nerve offerings.
