Adweek Acquires Social Media Week

Adweek announced on January 5, 2021 that it has acquired Social Media Week (SMW) and its flagship properties — including SMW Conferences, SMW News & Insights and the streaming platform SMW+. Founders Toby Daniels and Brian Leddy will join Adweek’s leadership team; terms were not disclosed. The deal expands Adweek’s events and social-media programming as part of a broader strategy under owner Shamrock Capital.
