EQT Infrastructure VI has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire KJ Environment and affiliated companies from Genesis Private Equity to establish a scaled end-to-end waste treatment platform in South Korea focused on recyclable sorting, plastic recycling and waste-to-energy. The platform serves the Greater Seoul area and is positioned to expand capacity, automation and customer partnerships; the transaction is expected to close in Q4 2024 and is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

The deal, unanimously approved by Covanta’s board, will be financed by EQT Infrastructure V and is expected to close by year-end; EQT said it plans to invest in operational, digital and sustainability initiatives to grow Covanta's waste processing, energy production and metals recycling businesses.
