Discovery Life Sciences Acquires QualTek Molecular Laboratories

Discovery Life Sciences (based in Huntsville, Alabama) has acquired QualTek Molecular Laboratories, a provider of CAP/CLIA-accredited and GLP-capable immunohistochemistry (IHC) laboratories in California and Pennsylvania. The acquisition expands Discovery's histopathology and IHC assay development capabilities and integrates QualTek's services with Discovery's biospecimen, sequencing, flow cytometry and multiomic annotation offerings to accelerate biomarker validation and drug/diagnostic development.

Cell Microsystems Acquires Fluxion Biosciences

Durham-based Cell Microsystems has acquired Fluxion Biosciences, adding Fluxion's IonFlux, BioFlux and IsoFlux instruments and services to its CellRaft-based product portfolio. The deal is supported by a concurrent Series B financing led by Telegraph Hill Partners to provide growth capital and accelerate product and service integration for cellular analysis and electrophysiology workflows.

Bruker Corporation Acquires PhenomeX Inc.

Bruker Corporation agreed to acquire PhenomeX Inc. in an all-cash transaction valued at roughly $108 million (purchase price $1.00 per share). PhenomeX — formed from the combination of Berkeley Lights and IsoPlexis and provider of single-cell biology instruments, software and reagents — will be folded into a Bruker subsidiary, marking Bruker’s entry into single-cell biology research tools and complementing its spatial biology offerings.

Biogen Acquires Human Immunology Biosciences for up to $1.8B

Biogen Inc. has agreed to acquire Human Immunology Biosciences (HI-Bio) for $1.15 billion upfront and up to $650 million in milestone payments, in a deal valued at up to $1.8 billion. The acquisition adds HI-Bio's lead asset felzartamab, an investigational anti-CD38 antibody with Phase 2 data in multiple renal immune-mediated diseases, to Biogen's immunology and rare-disease development capabilities.

Great Point Partners Makes Growth Investment in iXCells Biotechnologies

AnaBios Acquires Cell Systems

AnaBios Corporation has acquired Cell Systems, a Kirkland, Washington supplier of human primary cells and cell culture media, to expand its human tissue and cell portfolio and accelerate translational drug discovery. Financing for the transaction was provided by AnaBios' existing investors, including Ampersand Capital Partners; financial terms were not disclosed.
