Placon Acquires Former Sonoco Packaging Facility in Wilson, North Carolina

Placon acquired substantially all operating equipment of a former Sonoco thermoforming packaging operation in Wilson, North Carolina and will hire more than 80 employees at the 112,000 sq. ft. site. The move immediately expands Placon's production capacity and Southeast footprint to serve growing demand from retail, food and medical customers.

Brazilian pulp and paper producer Suzano S.A. completed the acquisition of two U.S. industrial facilities — the Pine Bluff paper mill (Arkansas) and the Waynesville extrusion facility (North Carolina) — from Pactiv Evergreen Inc. for a combined transaction value of approximately US$110 million. The deal expands Suzano’s manufacturing footprint in the United States and secures additional production assets for its packaging and paper operations.
